But this is the last of my Scotch. Sure, I have some peated American whiskey from Westland but no real Scotch. This can not stand! A trip to the booze emporium is in the very near future. I’m thinking some Lagavulin 16 this time for some smokey goodness. What’s Oppo drinking?

Everything.
Got a Shiner Brewer y Tour Box, Not Your Father’s Root Beer, and White Claw Variety Pack (judge me, don’ t care lol ) in the fridge. Instacarted some Jameson Cold Brew after I saw it on here, another fifth of Martin Miller Gin, and some Hornito’s Anejo Tequila this last weekend . COVID is making me an alcoholic maybe. One or two beers a week to a couple drinks a night isn’t ideal...
Seeing our young kitty in serious pain over the last week hasn’t helped. Broke his left femur Weds-Thurs last week, but didn’ t show signs until Friday. Has avascular necrosis of the hip, left side only (hopefully - rt side looked good) . Also learned he hates fireworks, so cat + broken leg/hip + 4th = massive scared cat in mega pain. Was able to get him FHO surgery Monday be cause a very nice doggo owner let him go in their place on the surgery roster since he was worse off. Fun.

Teeling Single Grain or the last of my Ardbeg OA.
I didn’t like the OA as much as the 10 year. But the Teeling Single Grain with 1 ice cube is stunning.

Sorry to hear about your kitty. I hope he’s back up and feeling good soon. That’s a nice hoard of alcohol you got going. I’m not one to try to put down another person’s booze choice especially not in the summer when sometimes you just want something cool and refreshing

Tried this for the first time. Not bad. Not as smooth as I like. Should have gotten the Basil Hayden's for just a few bucks more.

I've heard good reviews of various Ardbegs but I've never really tried them. Sorry the OA didn't hit the spot for you. I do have a empty spot for some Irish too now that I think about it...

Just brushed my teeth, maybe later. How good is it?
Westland recently arrived here but unfortunately the gouging is extra deep with these .
F inished a bottle of Aberlour 10 a couple of weeks ago and got the itch. Lagavulin 16 is on the list. I’ve had a 200ml bottle for 12 years . I’d like to have them side by side (before the price gets corrected) .
Also thinking of Bunnahabhain Stiu ireadair or Toiteach a Dha or an Arran.

Honeycrisp apple juice, and a hard root beer.
I'm out of... Well. Everything else

I have some Makers cask strength that's pretty good too. Solid but not fancy.

My neighbor and I pretty much killed a bottle of Johnny Walker Black today. 2 fingers left. Brb.

That Macallan was a gift so I can't really bag on it. It was super smooth but maybe just a bit thin and simple. I'd say it would be a crowd pleaser but nothing a whiskey person would be knocked over by.

Thanks. He’s doing a lot better (no pain) and getting around real well. He’s normally got two speeds - full bore and dead asleep, but has picked up a mosey gear for the moment . The fact he’s walking around already is amazing tbh.
Like the crisp stuff in the summer - citrus beers usually or a G&T or two . Was curious about the hard seltzers. Not really great but refreshing in their own way. Been less about drinking something nice for the flavor/experience lately...

Some cheapo $9/bottle wine, but this one’s actually decent.
Last bottle, might go restock next week.
Still got the Talisker 15, Laphroaig Triple Wood Cask and Lagavulin 11 I got a while back , but can’t seem to find the right moment to open these days.

The days of killing half a bottle in one night are far behind me but it would be a shame to leave two fingers in there.

Not the norm but it was a sociable afternoon. Just ate dinner so after that settles will probably need a digestif.
RIP Johnboy.

Still grinding through a bottle of Glen livet’s not very good Founders Reserve, which I was bitching about in a thread a few weeks back. It’s the last thi ng I bought duty free so I feel a moral obligation to finish it in honor of better days . There’s a bottle of L aphroig Quarter Cask calling to me from the back of the cabinet, but I’m not touching it till this is done.
But I’m actually drinking more Ameri c an than Scotch at the moment: the Woodford Reserve is disappearing at a slightly embarras sing rate of knots, and when I’m in the mood for more of a smack in the head I’ve got a bottle of a locally adulterated effort on the go: Batch 10 Manuka Smoke , which is an unspecified Kentucky Whisky which they import by the barrel and smoke infuse in some top-secret way before bottling . Tastes like the aftermath of a fire in a distillery, whi ch is actually better than it sounds.

My whisk(e)y drinking slows way down in summer but my work day smoked my brain so a glass sounded good.

I was sipping some Glenlivet 12 earlier, with a nice cigar.
No picture, even if Kinja would allow it.

That Batch 10 sounds delicious. I had to google manuka, but I like smokey whiskey so I’d give it a go.

I had a couple of local IPAs down by the river for an impromptu (and non-hiking) meeting of the cracks and holes hiking club (a subdivision of the library drinking club) down by the river tonight. I’m thinking I could go for a nightcap. It might be a little late for the Scotch, but a glass of something else might do.

Update: decided on a small glass of Sexton. An interesting Irish Whiskey, and the parting gift from my boss at the university last year.

Nice. I’m not an expert in Irish Whiskey but that sounds mighty tasty. BTW, if you don’t need that Ardbeg I could take care of it for you.

Oh no, that is my bottle of Ardbeg that I’ve been working on it when the occasion calls for a couple of years. I made Scotch drinkers out of a couple of folks who didn’t previously know they were Scotch drinkers with it.
On the subject of the Irish, you should really pick up a bottle of Connemara if you’ve never had it. Peated Irish Whiskey, at around half the peat of a Highlands. It is a pleasant hint of peat to our taste, but the astonishing part is how damned smooth it is. No $40 bottle of whiskey should be that smooth. Before you know it the whole bottle has a way of disappearing.

LOTS of Georgian Wine, basically we’ve been working our way through everything in the Chateau Mukhrani catalog that we can find...
